Hey I'm Spencer Curtis and I was in charge of the Throne Room. Here are some shots of my process. I did a paintover in photoshop to visualize the lighting better. Before paintover: After paintover: And here is my vertex paintable flag material that I'm pretty proud of
This is a model I did for "Magic The Challenge" Its a contest on facebook with MTG theme. We pick a card and do a 3D printeble model. I picked the "Sidisi brood tyrant" card, and did my own interpretation. Hope you guys like it!
I have been working some more on my personal project of a medieval environment. Most recently I have been setting up and painting a vertex paintable material for the props using their AO maps as masks for the moss and dirt to paint through.
This is nowhere near the final map yet. I'll make sure to pack it together when it's done tho. I'm having trouble with the cylindrical area underneath and to the back of it. I don't know if its worth the space to have those flat faces of that area paintable.
Did some preliminary bakes, finished the base sculpt for this piece. Also tested some of the modular components in Maya. Behind the wood squares will be broken concrete and thick plaster which will be a tiling texture, with vertex painting between the two. I also want everything to be vertex paintable so I can layer on…
Looking good keep at it. Make sure the textures on the keel of the ship (The planks with the yellow stripes) line up with the back, its minor but its all I got right now! Also this is the cleanest deck on a wooden ship I have ever seen. Maybe a vertex paintable shader might help to give you wear and tear on it.
A little more progress tonight, a lot of work spent on clean up and LOD's as well as optimizing materials with additional switches. Added some temperature to the skylight and also got some nice paintable puddles added to my material layer blend  Should be able to finish up some more props this weekend. Cheers all.
