If you're just pasting raw photos you're probably doing it wrong. I use plenty of photos in my work, but I treat them effectively as colors, and not "materials" - I'll build a piece of blue-painted metal with rust showing through out of multiple layers to paint the damage where I want, rather than using everyone's favorite… -

I agree with what TeeJay said, Modo is a great deal at $1200 and many pros here prefer modeling in Modo. 3dcoat isn't a bad deal at $350, but it's main uses are texture painting, retopo, and uv mapping. Maya does have a 90 day license for $200… -

Unfortunately the other thread didn't exactly find a solution either. The reason i do not enjoy moving an object to 10,20,10 for example, is because I believe these numbers are floats and can become innacurate. For example if I push a vert of box to 10,20,10 and the same for another box. The 2 verts won't actually line up… -
