The reason is that auto-uvs are generally a bit crap. In particular they don't understand the orientation and flow of your surfaces that well. I've learned that everytime i've been lazy and auto-uv'd something, it's just made more work for me when baking or texturing. They also yield substandard density. I do use…
I use Pixen. It crashes a lot but has always on preview and does autobackup. Aseprite is good too, also can recommend GRAFX2. Photoshop seems a little unintuitive after using these apps, but you might be ok with it's quirky logic if starting out afresh.
There are lots of posts on polycount about starting out...a couple searches would be fruitful. 1. 3dsmax (for about 14 years..as a hobbyist and a professional)..also tried Maya, and Modo. 2. +autoback +plugins +scripting +powerful tools -lot of useless crap packed into it -expensive -useless version updates to turn a buck…
I just had a stupid issue with the UV editor where non of my settings would save and it would keep switching to UV Channel 2, and if i switched to 1 or well both, my UVs weren't correct. So I went to an autobak and saved out my UV's and then after that everything saved and was all good.
Stability. 9 hasn't crashed on me yet, in two days of work. Others say it's pretty solid, I've only heard one person say 9 crashes on them. 8 crashes on me 3 or 4 times a week. Autobak every five minutes only helps somewhat.
Don't use undo in Max, unless you're ready to risk a crash. Max has always had trouble with its undo system. If you want you can set your autobak interval to something more often, like every 5 minutes. Big files mean slow saves though.
Alright sorry for the delay, Irene decided to shut down the electricity in my whole neighborhood, corrupting all my files related to this project. Had to start over from the only Autobackup that wasn't corrupted. The concept states that the gun are chambered to 40mm cannons. Since 40mm looks like this…
Can i not ctrl-z? It seems to work in photoshop, but 3do and Ddo dont respond. What is the /m at the texel density input? If i put in 4096, i am working with 4k in ddo and 3do yes? Is there interated autobackup? I noticed i could mess up the maps pretty easily and cant seem to dind a way to backup.
Well, as stated above that would be an argument from thinking of the issue in theory only ("why do you care, just autopack"). But in practice that's not how things work : having a human-readable layout speeds things up immensely when texturing, because not everything game art-related is done UV-agnostingly in Substance…
is there a way in max to disable the possibility to delete an object? the problem is i still want to be able to select and move it so freezing/hiding dosen´t help the problem is, if i want to delete some keyframes from my rig-animation but bc of whatever the keys are highlighted but not selected it deletes my rig and not…
