Why don't you two tone the white? I can't remember which race cars have but you should be able to make it mostly white, tint it a bit so it looks more like metal and have it be another pure color like say red or black.
looking really nice, reminds me of a kind of Ikaruga meets F-Zero style (which is of course quite cool). Something about the simplicity of the original concept is very attractive, but the second take is very flashy and hot.
I think it would be worthwhile to go after the two-tone style first, and then move forward with the colors as a secondary version buit on top of it.
The new view looks better and it may have just been the different view before, but you're still too humped in the back compared to your concept, the thing coming off the bottom isn't the right shape, etc. Also, your previous shot of your model looked rather wasteful - if you can optimize it you'll be able to re-add those other things coming off the bottom, etc.
Have you considered modeling a high poly model instead of painting normals?
defiantly one of my favorites so far. i defiantly liked where originally going with the dope orange color scheme,
the windows look too stretched out all big
i think this is the layout you should be goin for

I can see what u mean. Yeah.. I have redone a bit now to match the concept more. So, yeah.. I do want to work in hi-poly.. but running Z-brush or MB is killing my machine right now... upgrade next week!

You can do high-poly with Max and keep the counts much lower than you would have to for Mudbox/Zbrush

Your concept looks awesome, but the model you made does not seem to be catching the shapes right at all.
