[Closed] Principal Artist - First Contact Entertainment

First Contact Entertainment - Creators of the upcoming PSVR exclusive Firewall: Zero Hour - is seeking an immensely talented Principal Artist to help create bleeding edge 3D Art for upcoming next generation VR projects. This key artist welcomes challenges, pushing technical limitations beyond what was previously thought possible.

The Principal Artist will work closely with the Art Director and department heads to prototype and define the vision for current and upcoming projects. Their expert-level experience in hard surface modeling/texturing, prop creation, modular environment construction, and PBR material creation will serve as an example and standard for the team.

This Environment Art centric role requires collaboration with the creative leads and producers regarding goals and expectations, setting production standards, as well as mentorship and training of the art team. Assistance in working with external partners may also be required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research and experiment with art tools, creating a state-of-the-art content creation pipeline

  • Set expectations with Leads and Directors in regards to the feasibility of various techniques as they should or should not be used in production

  • Collaborate with Leads and Directors to document and implement pipeline so it can be followed by all team members

  • Inspire and mentor the art team, sharing expertise and best practices

  • Work alongside the the Environment Art team where needed, assisting with delivery on level and game specific milestones

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 8 years of professional experience creating 3D Art for Video Games with multiple shipped AAA titles

  • Expert level user of Substance Designer, Substance Painter, Zbrush, Maya/3DS Max, Photoshop, or other - You know the best tool for the task at hand

  • Forward thinker - You always have your eyes on the next tool or pipeline improvement.  You may have mastered the current suite of essential software, but you are expected to experiment with and learn new software coming down the road

  • R&D experience working with Leads and Directors experimenting with and defining Art Pipelines - Creating Art Bars, Beautiful Corners, Vertical Slices, etc.

  • Ability to explain advanced art techniques with the team

  • Strong sensibilities in designing and implementing art in a way that is optimized for real time rendering

  • Strong adaptability to changing production demands

  • Must be currently eligible to work in the USA

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Photogrammetry experience

  • Experience documenting for and coordinating with Outsourcing

  • Prior VR Game Experience

  • Unreal 4 Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
