Hey Folks, 

Here's something I've been working on recently. Environment and Character is definitely something I'm looking to improve on.This will be a VFX Environment piece with a secondary Character aspect to it.

I'll primarily be looking for Environment and Character feedback. I appreciate harsh criticism as it really helps me see what I can improve on. Any cool ideas would be awesome too!

[Process]

In terms of priority it's Environment -> VFX -> Character.

In regards to the Character- My main priority is making the face look good. I'm still working on hands and feet atm. The clothing will remain Low-poly as that will be the final model that's textured. Retopology shouldn't be too difficult since I'm aiming for a Low-poly character mesh for in-game use.

[Story] 

The idea here is that it's my Goblin's camp and she's after the elusive "turtle" that's swallowed a rare ring worth quite a lot. She's really keen on getting that ring- almost obsessed! Being blessed by the Tauren (insert backstory here), she wears their garb and uses special totems to enhance her fishing in order to catch the little rascal!

    Hey Folks,

    Here's another update on my project.

    I'm holding off on the character until I get all the major stuff blocked in. 

    I've upscaled the resolution on the pier and canopy. Its about 1k resolution for that separate sheet. 512 looked too low for large objects especially with 512 objects on their surface. I'm considering scale and "importance" (unique v.s. repeated) for resolution. 

    Below are some lower resolution images of how I've packed my textures (for reference). The Black splotches are from the pier parts I cut from that sheet. I'm going to fill those with small props (food/drink/gems/etc)

    The markings on the pier are a separate decal sheet. I planned on having different markings on the pier's pillars to break up the repetition (aside from kinks in the geometry).

    I'm gonna add a quill, ink bottle, gold pouch, and stool for the table (she's a goblin). Some additional foliage for the ground such as dead leaves and wood chips. Perhaps some hay underneath the fishing canopy.

    Hey Folks,

    Here's some more progress on my project. I've made it more "tauren-like." I like the metal collars so I think I'm gonna keep those. It's crude like goblin architecture (though orcish in appearance). She is part of the Horde war-machine after all! 

    The rest I'm going to push towards more Tauren themed. The idea is a fusion of generic horde and tauren. AFAIK goblin falls under the horde canopy and the garrison feels far more organic than the industrial goblin look.  

    There's a couple more props that come to mind before I start refining and adding in stain/paint decals.

    I'm beginning to set up specular maps for the textures. I have spec maps for the pier, canopy and snow so far. I'm going to invest more time into the terrain textures to really help sell it.

    Hey Folks, 

    Here's some updated work. Added some props and more vfx. 



    Aye, I'm keeping that orange theme going :D. The gray object is a tanning rack that I'm still blocking in. I believe I've got all props I wanted to include.

    I'll continue refining the terrain and flora textures (trees/bushes/etc).

    Hey Folks,

    Here's another update on my project. Added alot more foliage and smaller details. Updated textures to be in separate sheets for ease of editing. Trying to force everything into one sheet is too time consuming and becomes an issue if resolution gets too low. This way I can cut back or double resolution per object.

    I'm working on the terrain textures and foliage atm. I'm considering turning the tree bark into a tiling texture for better resolution. Small props still need to be refined and include a spec map.
