The character is totally frozen. so, currently I've put the hair in a separate layer and hiding it seems to work smoothly and I can preview the sequence with no lagg. I guess that's the only solution for now..
Now days you can get Laptops with desktop grade GPUs which is really neat and new; so for modelling specifically, you'll want to be looking at a laptop with an nvidia GTX1060 or even higher if you're want. Go for a laptop which will last.
I think I've figured it out; as you can see, the tutorials ask to toggle 32bit ON, however when I turn it off, the Displacement Map information seems to show now:
Now there's this issue, there this strange stretching-like artefact...
So I decided to try the Displacement Map tool in Tools and create displacement from that. It seems to have created the map and you can see the map where the mouse is hovering.
However, for some reason it's displacing the edges of each face as well?…
Yh, so I imported the LowPoly (unwrapped) and the HighPoly (not unwrapped) mesh into zbrush, then divided the LowPoly to a higher level, which I then projected to get the detail from the HighPoly.
So my intention now, is to create a displacement m…
Hey I just installed CreasePlus for Maya 2016 SP6 but it seems to crash (as in freezes and can't access any functions) whenever I try to apply a Box or Full Boolean. Any Ideas? Thanks

Thanks for the additional feedback, it really helps on improving and this being my first environment I'm proud of, I will definitely be aiming to improve and look more into the details you mentioned from extending to different…
Hey thanks for the feedback,
@Bomb_Bear This project took a while to render and this particular area put me off as well, I guess I was more focused on the lighting. I soon realised that I hadn't been utilising the hard/soft edge tool in Maya and I…
Very nice, impressed with the laptop and other props. There is some repeating scratch detail on the former though, and the plastic area beneath the window looks wierd.. light baked into the diffuse?
I got some additional feedback and critique from my Tutors and I have made some adjustments today on the textures, lighting and some object rearrangements. Here are some quick renders from v-ray:
I will be adjusting the grease on the keyboard to c…
Ah freakin sweet! You could always make one of those calming gifs and just have a scrolling background and gently shaking mountain dew!
I didn't even think of that! I'll defo think about a loop type gif

That's pretty! The blacks are very black though, might be nice to have a bit more bounce lighting.
Also, PNGs make for a very slow-loading thread. You should use JPGs instead.
Some more renders:
Had fun with project, learnt a lot during the process and I hope to reflect this onto my future projects. Again, I'm open to feedback that I can put forward to improve my work!
Now to focus on my Dissertation for a bit
good work, my personal crits: I think you could improve the read of the materials. which bits are metal or painted metal or plastic or polished vs dirty. They look really good earlier in the individual parts shots but in this latest p…
Finished texturing this morning and decided to import into Maya and do a test render (using Vray):
Would love to get some feedback on this!
Also any suggestions on how I could present this for a Portfolio reel?
So I got some time and decided to adjust the textures on the feedback given earlier and here are some screenshots of the updated:
Because its a drone controlled from a VR Station I'm thinking of adding some sort of Lens/Glass type into the fro…
take a look at some of the star citizen ships, something like this one perhaps
hmm.. yes I see where you're getting at, I've been looking at the ships in the Star Citizen store and they are great examples. I'll look mo…
The ship texture is so dark I cannot see anything going on
That's very...black. I'm sure the model looks good but I just can't...see it.
Yeah I wasn't sure what colors to go for and feedba…
