The review is based on the original model. The author has redone the skin and skin mapping and released the model again. The download link and the directory structure above refer to the new model. If you want the old model, Download it Here. Otherwise just unzip the new model into the "sideswipe2" directory and you should be fine. The two screenshots directly above are also taken from the new model.

Intro

Jason Seip's and Rikki Knight's first plugin player together is stunning. Based on the Transformer Sideswipe, it brings back fond memories of the kids' movie which made the fatal mistake of killing off 90% of the original cast. Those were the days when genocide was perfectly fine in cartoons, now even itchy and scratchy is frowned upon... stupid 90's ethics.. Anyway..:)

Originality

When I receive models of such high standard, I wonder why the hell we bother with an originality rating:)

The Model

Jason has done a great job with the model, looks exactly like the toy, and cartoon character.

Score: Ten

The Animations

Anyone who remembers the original cartoon show, will be able to verify how perfect these animations are.. fit the character exactly.

Score: Ten

The Skin

All the skins are great, and art wise the only thing missing is that autobot symbol.. however the scale and proportions of the skin mean that they lose a lot more detail than they should in gl mode (text becomes illegible etc) but because of the simple design, its fortunately not a big problem.

Score: Nine
