Intro

Lin Fang is your stereotypical hero/villian type from the cool kung fu flicks where magic and gravity defying leaps prevailed. It is questionable wether or not melee fighting characters are viable in Q2, but i believe the author has pulled it off rather well with this model.

Originality

It's pretty hard to judge this character on originality. It doesn't appear to be designed after any certain actor/character that I know of. So that makes it original in a way.

Although i'd have to say that this type of character is not an original design from the creators mind. It's been done before is the 3d gaming genre. Mostly in fighting games.

In view of this model, the door of originality swings both ways, but in a day when everything has already been done. There really isn't much point to the word originality.

The Model

Very well built. The only place that I have noticed that could have done without a few polys were the crotch area, and hands. But I can tell that the author added these few extra polys for better animation purposes. So that is just me being a bit picky.

Also worth mentioning. The weapon.md2 has a full 198 frames where it should have ended at 172 with the last pain frame. I personally have not gotten any errors from this, and am not sure if it will even cause errors. So I'll just chock it up as a slight oversight and not take off for it.
Score: Ten

The Animations

The Good: Some of the most realistic, fluid animations i have seen to date.

The Bad & the Ugly: With this model the author made the same fatal mistake in animation that he made with his Sydney model. The pony tail cuts very deeply into the back through most of the animations. This is very noticeable if you play Lithium, as I do, and use the chasecam. If it was only a rare occurance I would feel more apt to be lenient with a single star reduction, but because of the problem showing up very clearly throughout the animations I am deducting 1 and a half.
Score: Seven

The Skin

The skins fit nicely. They give a dark, fearsome look to a character that could of easily appeared comical with brighter happier skins. The ctf skins are just a quick change to a different colored shirt and pony tail holder.

Also very good job in skin mapping. Only 10% wasted space.
Score: Ten

Sounds

No sounds were provided with the model.

Visible Weapons Support

No. The actual firing/attacking animations would not work with a weapon in hand, so I see no vweap support in Lin Fang's future.

Pack Inclusion

Lin Fang meets all of the requirement set by the Q2pmp. He'll be a welcome addition.
