Intro

Its the DD Battlemover mecha from the anime 'Bubblegum Crisis'. This is my first review, but if it goes down well, it certainly won't be my last!. This is a cool model let down by some un-original animations and an incredibly high poly count. I'm docking 1 mark for the high poly count and 1/2 a mark for the unimaginitive and 'wooden' animations.

Originality

Hmm, well there have been one or two models based on Bubblegum Crisis, and there are tons of anime mecha models out there, so I'm gonna have to rate this pretty low...
Score: 4

The Model

Ack! be sure you have a machine which can handle that excessive poly count! However, they do their job; a cursory glance at the model is all thats needed to tell you that this guy has his roots firmly in the anime style. Now, I've never seen Bubblegum Crisis and a search on all the search engines I know of yielded no pictures (Exept of his back) so I can't say for certain if he looks like the anime original, however I have seen many anime films and series with mecha in them, so I think that the model suits is roots. Another plus for this model is that there are hardly any wobbly vertices. I'm taking off 1 and a half marks for the excessive poly count, but it is still an impressive looking model.
Score: 7

The Animations

The stand animations a bit boring, he jsut stands there looking around, and it looks a little wooden (But that could just be me ;) The run animation is ( hello.. reviewer??? ) The pain anims are pretty basic, just a little recoil but then thats what they mostly are... His jump is pretty basic and his knees don't bend when he lands, but theres some good arm movements here. The taunts are not particularly original; a wave of his arm, a salute, a beat of his chest and his hand sort of spins round, but they work. There isn't too much of a noticable difference between his stand and his crouch, he's still a big target, and the anim of him sitting still is the same as before exept he is now crouching. The crouching run is pretty good, and the pain anim is just the recoil as before. The death anims, although hopefully won't be viewed to often by everyone, are still one of the most important anims. Unfortunatly the death animations aren't particularly impressive, he just sort of falls either on his face or back. So on the whole, the animations, though suitable, aren't impressive or original and some are slightly wooden. This mark would probably be higher if the death anims where more impressive; perhaps the author could have made him blow apart or something...?
Score: 6

The Skin

The skins are where this model excels. CTF freaks will love this model because there are 9, count em, *nine* CTF skins with this model, plus the normal skin and if you don't like CTF, then you have a choice of bodywork!! His skins have only 13% wasted space and are GL friendly!
Score: 8

Sounds

There are no sounds in this model, but it could probably be done, using sounds from the anime.

Visible Weapons Support

The only weapon with this model is his shoulder mounted vulcan cannon, but *perhaps* more could be added.

Pack Inclusion

If it wasn't for the high poly count then this model would be in, however it does have an extremely high poly count, so I'm afraid I'll have to say no to his inclusion...

Seconds later, Mr Battlemover tripped on his
own grenade...

3 down, two to go...

One small frag for me... One big headache
for Mr Battlemover!!

Little did Mr Battlemover know that my cheating
buddy had him in his sights...

Quick tip Mr Battlemover, *never* take on
someone with a white outline, ok?

OH MY GOD, THEY KILLED DUKE NUKEM!!
YOU BASTARD!!!
