I dont know why im posting here, anyway, our baby ferret , 8 months died today in a household accident , envolving the washing machine, it was the cuttest thing ever, it was like a small child , always stealing our shoes , and dragging my wallet to her hidden places. My girfriend prefers to believe it didnt happen , she even went to the washing machine to remove the remaining clothing , she found some blood and it distrubed her...and me... And no i dont think it was negligence, the maid was putting the clothes in the washing machine, but didnt notice she was there sleeping...thanks guys , we are in shock and very saddened.

heres an image of our girl while she was snooping inside my backpack.

    aw man thats so sad.

I had 2 ferrets for a while. They loved to climb in a small crevice near the dish washer.. They really like dangerous appliances.

I had a few ferrets growing up and at the time I also had a 5 year old sister- who jumped off of a chair- ...and landed on one. lessons in death are always a good time. with that said, you have a maid???

edit* whoa spain- I`m guessing its probably a cultural thing. I wish I had a maid, then again after reading this story maybe I dont 0_o

thanks everyone , i think im dealing with this , i still cant shake tottaly the images of the poor beeing in the machine , its just too nasty for something that the baddest thing it ever did was to poop on my pillow ...

My girlfriend is dealing with it pretty bad, i think she might have entered a state of "complicated grief"

    " Complicated grief

The sadness of losing someone you love never goes away completely, but it shouldn’t remain center stage. If the pain of the loss is so constant and severe that it keeps you from resuming your life, you may be suffering from a condition known as complicated grief. Complicated grief is like being stuck in an intense state of mourning. You may have trouble accepting the death long after it has occurred or be so preoccupied with the person who died that it disrupts your daily routine and undermines your other relationships.

    Symptoms of complicated grief include:

    * Intense longing and yearning for the deceased
    * Intrusive thoughts or images of your loved one
    * Denial of the death or sense of disbelief
    * Imagining that your loved one is alive

    * Searching for the person in familiar places
    * Avoiding things that remind you of your loved one
    * Extreme anger or bitterness over the loss
    * Feeling that life is empty or meaningless
    "

I know this might sound a tad weird, but it was like a child and here in spain i work at home and dont socialize much cause of work, and all my friends are in portugal , she has the university friends, but most of them are empty people that only care about smoking weed and themselves , so needless to say it was us 3 , and one of them died a horrible way...im sorry to write this much ,i just need to get it off my chest. thank you guys.

EDIT : konstruct, well its someone who comes 2 hours per week to help me out tead up my loft :P shes a wonderfull person ,and was also shocked about this...

only one thing to do, get a replacement electrical ferret, just as good as the real thing, except requires more electrical maintenance, the technicians dress like vets so all your neighbors will just think u have a sickly animal... better than not having an animal at all imo.

elysium , the thing is she was sleeping in my bed, and she went to clean the sheets, so she picked them up and threw them in the washing machine, she had a REALLY heavy sleep so she didnt notice , none fault actually, it was an accident. We might get another , the gal is dealing better now , and next time we will all be more carefull. thanks everyone , hope none has to go thru this in life , either animals or people.

elysium , the thing is she was sleeping in my bed, and she went to clean the sheets,

    wait...the maid?

To be clear, because I'm getting my ass handed to me in another discussion, I feel bad for the animal. It's a terrible way to go. I've wanted a ferret for some time. They're cute, and fun. But there are reasons why I can't have them as a pet. I don't find any delight in the death of any creature. When you've owned a dog for many years, one that has become a part of a large caring family, and watch it suffer with very old age, to have it put down in your arms, and bury it yourself...you know what grief is after the loss of a pet. You take the next couple days slowly, and move on. Find the next pet, and give it your attention.

I think you two need to push on. Reflect. Take a deep breath. Go out. If the gal isn't 99% in a week...seek therapy.

I think it's natural to have thoughts about the accident since the death happened so recently. I felt the same way when my dog passed away, but as time went on, I don't think about how he passed away, I remember how great his life was and to be in a loving family. Sorry to hear about the loss, hang in there!

yeah the maid was feeling super crappy, she also loved picchi , it seems that ferrets tend to make people like them in the moment , i dunno its just weird, their so friendly, and i just knew that she didnt suffer, she was sleeping and during initial centrifugion she bumped her head and died in the spot, not drowning nor suffocating, and thats a big relief .Thanks all for the support, we are ready to move on, and are also sorry to hear these similar stories from you guys , i guess it shows that we are human after all.

buddikaman , yeah you have a point , but i dont have much time to wash 75square meters of floor, nor cleaning every single furniture, nor clean the mess i left in the kitchen , i am too busy studying , working and per sending me boob shots :) i dont blame the maid, she is an awesome person , and cares for us.

thanks everyone, we also planned to get another one, not exactly now, but maybe later when we feel ready . Too bad they are forbiden in portugal tho :S

Man, I can sympathize. Some sick fucker poisoned my dog last week, and it was the sweetest thing. Watching it die for 20 minutes while the vet was shooting it up with all kinds of shit in very futile effort was heart wrenching, although people might find it funny that someone can get upset over their pets dying.

fuck t4pan , that so fucked up...how did you deal with it ? must have been awful...I would find the sucker and make him eat his own brains, its gruesome, but the guy deserves it.

Some fucked up shit here as well, sad to know that people go thru this daily with their loved ones , and it only hit me when it happened to me like this...im sure everyone feels like that too...

We went today to the city, watched a movie , had a nce dinner and lunch , but when we started making the puzzle we were doing before she started with all crazy shit like if she is ok , and if she is scared and misses us "their parents" , she took a real bond with picchi , and she keeps saying she misses her, and the house is emptier , she has also good moments when she is ok, then she can break down the other, sometimes i dont know what to answer to what she says, i believe she has a severe trauma...its so much shit to deal on my life, now this..fuck...

well, time for me to help her and do some art.

Man, the only thing you can do is keep to your daily routines until you get used to them without the pet being a part in them.. Coming home to an empty house is definitely the worst thing after being used to being greeted with all the saliva-spreading and tail-wiggling jumping up and down for me...

That said, I may or may not have info on the old sick cunt who poisons dogs in the neighborhood and I may or may not extract revenge on their person.

Johny maybe your girlfriend should see a therapist, it might be helpful for her to get some advice on ways she can deal with her grief. It might also help you because a therapist could help with providing your girlfriend emotional support and possibly ease some of the burden placed on you. That's an awful thing to go through. I hope you both feel better soon.

t4pan, it would be a shame if karma were to pay her back some some "unforeseen calamities" like a bag of burning dog shit on her front doorstep (although that's probably too kind).
  • Mark Dygert
It's been two days, its going to take a lot longer then that to figure out how to move around this. It sounds like you're both making good progress and really I'd worry about you both if you had both gotten over it already.

t4pan, that's fucked up! If you know who the person is, at the very least I'm sure you have some legal recourse, of course no one (except a judge) would blame you if you took things farther. I've lost a few family members over the years and a handful of pets all to natural causes. I can't imagine how it would be to have any of them suffer due to someones intentional misdeeds. The sadness over the loss would be hard enough but the rage, that would be hard to contain...

That sucks to hear, Johny. I can't personally offer any solutions to your current situation, but I hope you and your girl feel better soon. It is unfortunate the way it happened because it seems to brutal and no one realised what had happened until it was too late.
Give your girl some time, I guess she's taking it harder than you expected. It may not be exactly what you need right now with the stresses of study and work, but just give her the support she needs. There may come a time when you'll need that from her as well.
Oh and Per sends you boob shots? WTB per's MSN.

hey everyone thanks for sharing, i think i might be recovering pretty well , i dont think im traumatized no more , in these times its hard to understand theres people going thru something worse , or went thru....

t4pan , i really think that you must have gone thru hell , and i really hope that sick fuck gets what he deserves , and then some anal rape without lube.No seriously what kind of fucktard can do that thing to other people's animals.

robioto : i think she is now definately recovering , for good, im still worried for her, she was also very supportive with me.

Vig : thanks man. Funny, i actually told her that...;)

Casey : yeah its hard , its like stress dose nr 3 , but i feel if i overcome this all ill be invincible, like boris.

thank you all, im really touched how people help out eachother in need :)

t4paN and Johny, my condolences for your loss. Me and my girlfriend of 8+ years live with 2 cats and I certainly know what it's like to be attached to your pets. They are like our kids to us. My male cat was almost put to sleep due to a spinal injury that almost left him completely paralyzed. I refused to let him die and payed over $6000+ for a spinal "specialist" to do surgery on his spine. He can now walk again after about a six month recovery. But man, I think I sobbed for that little bastard more than I would any member of my own family. lol :)

P.S. I recommend pet insurance for anyone with pets. It's cheap and covers a lot. After my incident, I immediately bought it as the whole ordeal almost wiped me out financially.

ouch man, spinal injuries are horrible, and the most horrible is the money people charge, just because they can when people are desperate, oh well, about the insurance, that might be a good idea , the thing is here in spain , insurance lends you umbrellas on sunny days, and you end up always loosing :(
