(Solved) Shifted Cylinder + Non-planar Quad

Hi,

I was creating a cylinder with a shifted top cap. But then realise doing so made the chamfer on bottom became non-planar.

Is this how people usually model a shifted cylinder (say, for a table leg)? Is non-planar in this case a problem?

If i would have to think the whole day about non-planar polygons i would quit my job. So don´t overdo it. If it looks fine its fine. You´re not doing cad work that needs to be 100% precise.

True. Normally I wouldn't worry, but then I look at the shading, it looks wrong:

My bottom cap quad should be on the same plane, why does the non-planar quad on chamfer affect the cap?

just manually set all the normals on the cap to face down. Problem solved no?

Yeah. I have finally met this problem enough times to realise it on my own.
