Opening the UE4 Editor without the launcher?

Is it possible to skip the Unreal launcher completely and just go right into the editor? I've read it's possible to compile your own copy of UE4 with the launcher disabled, but that seems like a huge hassle for what should be something as simple as clicking on an exe file.

I seem to remember you can just double click your project file maybe?

The launcher definitely has problems.

It actually tried putting me into a 10 minute queue earlier today, because too many people were using it.

nice one, never tried loading a map directly either. i so far avoided the launcher by executing the editor binary. it then pops up a project selector.

as for the launcher it used to be that i could have it skip updates on startup. recently it became a little more insisting yet failed to update itself repeatedly. that was the last straw... be gone!

If you have a project with tons of maps, you can create a shortcut of the project file with the location to the map so it automatically loads it as well.

Simply go the your installation folder and delete the friggin' Launcher folder. BAM! Problem solved. Now you can start UE4 editor always directly.

You guys would love the Linux version (if it was more feature complete compared to Windows), has there is no launcher on that platform, however do need to compile yourself.
