Hey guys! Taking a break from my other character to work on this! I always work better when I have a strong concept to follow and I love this gorgeous work from Kings of the Realm.

Just been working on blocking out the forms so far, looking forward to getting into those juicy details.

Really neat concept and good progress so far. I would say that one thing that instantly sticks out to me is that your take is a bit more wide in most areas and kind of bottom heavy. Depending on how close to the concept you want to go the head might also be slightly too small but that may just be perspective making it look like that. Sorry for the lack of valuable input and good luck on this!

@Magihat Thankyou! I know what you mean about the width and things- originally I was trying to keep my proportions realistic but I think I'm gonna end up pushing them to be slightly more stylised and fit the concept better

Looking really good so far Hazel, coming along quickly and looking pretty clean too. The thing that sticks out for me the most is the face, Just my opinion but a lot of your characters seem to end up looking very similar in terms of facial structure. seems sort of generic. I presume its still in relatively early stages but it might be worth finding a celebrity with quite a distinct look to work from, with lots of high res ref. make it a bit more human. as always though just down to personal taste. Keep it up.

she looks good overall. The details look fantastic so far!
I think there are a couple of problems whith her proportions though: first it looks like she is around 8.5 heads high (not counting the heels of course) compared to the concept that is more like 7.5. That makes her looks really high! I would suggest you scale up her head a bit in order to better balance the proportions.
And second, it looks like her breasts are way too low. As a rule of thumb, one head below the chin is the height of the nipples. That of course can vary massively from case to case but in her case I would suggest you avoid going below that threshold.
I hope that's not going to be too painful to modify with all those details around...

@Sam's_stuff Thankyou! Totally with you on the face, I think its a mix of personal preference for strong cheekbones and jawlines, I was referencing Gemma Arteton initially but I deviated a bit, I've done a little more work on her face now but I'm not sure how much better it is :')

Little update- not much has changed except the bits that I just mentioned. I'm planning to do her semi-stylised so I'm not going to go into details too obsessively. Don't think it'll be long until I wrap the highpoly up so crit is appreciated !

Looking really nice and clean so far, I think even in a stylised character a bit of simple wear and material def is nice, but that's just more my taste I think. The only thing that seems a bit under worked are the trouser creases, especially around the knee. If there more tight fitting then they wont really have those big forms and if there more like the concept there should be more creases especially around the joint. Otherwise it all looks really good. Keep it up!

Looking good so far Hazel! You made a good job reworking on the proportions. I love the chainmail , if I could crit something I'd say that the fabric part could have a bit more of details like some folds here and there to make it different from the other materials. But you've done a nice job so far, Keep going this is gonna be awesome! I love this concept btw, good choice

I would say to take another look at the face. The concept has her face a little slimmer than what you have. And I really like the face on the concept =D

The armor looks amazing to me, keep it up!

That's looking really nice, that little bit of extra fold work really makes a difference and should carry through nicely into the textures, Keep it up.

She's all baked and ready to go! Tried marmoset 3 for baking this time and I'm really pleased with how it turned out!

Nice work! What are you using for texturing and preview renders? I feel like she could do with a bit more wear and definition in the textures. The current render is a little flat so it's hard to comment too much, but I think you can get more definition into the different materials to really sell them.. for instance the leather all looks a little bit too new and perfect and lacks variation, and the metal is a touch plasticky.

Really promising though!

Texture update! Makes a huge difference giving her hair. Still obviously a WIP and the lighting is a bit dark but I'm getting there

Decided to rig and pose her before I do my final polish with the textures! Was struggling to look at it with fresh eyes while she was still in the tpose! Really want to push the presentation on this character so I won't be sticking with this plain look
