[WIP] Assassin's Creed 'The Rebel'

Hey everyone! First time posting here but figured it was about time I did!

I'm picking back up this personal project that I started about a month ago. I only recently realised the concept was actually from Assassin's creed but oh well haha. http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Rebel

I've just finished my degree and I'm on the hunt for work at the moment so critique is much appreciated so I can improve and learn and make a nice portfolio piece

Been away for a few days so only just got the chance to work on her again today. Changed her headwrap/turban to something more natural (and that I could find good reference for)
Just been noodling with bits and proportions, feeling better about her hands but the knuckles/top of her hand seem a little exaggerated so I'll be fixing that soon.

It might just be me, but I feel like you have her shoulders a bit too wide and the biceps a bit too beefy to match the concept.
It's looking really cool though, and you're doing a killer job with all the clothes!

@Zolizzo I think you're right about the shoulders! I'll take another look at them. Also I deliberately beefed up the arms cause its a pet peeve of mine when female characters are supposed to be fighters but have really skinny arms

I'll find some reference for the kind of body type I'm after and then check if the arms still work

Got some feedback today so I've mostly been working on those things and doing some detailing on other parts.
I plan to make her two weapons so I think I might take a break and start on those so I can look at her with fresh eyes afterwards.

Looking real cool! Folds and details are looking nice, i would really look at the arm anatomy here. Wanting her to look stronger is fine, but be sure the proportions of the upper arm, lower arm, and shoulder all work. i would work a little on each individual muscle form, particularly where the muscles overlap around the shoulders and elbows and find lots of reference as to how that affects the surface.

Be sure the reference you find is someone with a more natural build rather than a body builder, odds are a pirate wouldn't be built and toned in the same way.

I worked on the arms with some more reference and I feel like they still look exactly the same as they did before so I'll be making another attempt at them again soon.

After several attempts I modeled a gun that I was pretty happy with (definitely not my forte)

And this is where the pirate is up to! Very close to finishing (I think) so I'll be doing another detail pass (particularly on the body and face) and then be moving onto retopo

Hi, this looks great! I don't know how I missed this...

I think it all looks very good but I can see a few issues with te arms: the deltoid should reach half the length of the humerus, the brachioradialis should originate higher, plus a few more things... I think I can help you with that but I see you're about to move to retopo. Let me know if you're willing to spend some more time on the HiRes and I'll be posting some more in-depth explanation for you.
Overall it looks great regardless

I made some pretty big strides with texturing & I've got the majority of the base textures in now so I'll be going through and working on them bit by bit. Feedback is really appreciated around this stage since texturing tends to be a weakness of mine!

Hey, this is awesome! Really lovely and clean work, I'd love to see the topology of this purely for my own learning purposes. It seems a bit of a shame that the embroidery on the top hasn't come through as clean as it is in the sculpt. A bit of feedback on the skin I would say its looking a little flat, have you got a sub-dermis map set up? Particularly along the forearms I would expect some veins to be visible and it could give the skin that bit of extra depth. Really sweet so far though, keep it up!

This is awesome! As @JLeeD said already, even though the dirt makes the skin more interesting, the skin itself still feels a bit flat. More variation in skin tone and colour would definitely make everything pop out a bit more.

@JLeeD Thankyou! I'll be posting the wireframes along with the finished model later! Yeah thats something I find incredibly frustrating when you put tonnes of work into the sculpt and it just doesn't come out as strong in the bake

Thanks for the feedback on the skin! I didn't have a proper sub-dermis set up so I did that and also added some veins and stuff which made a huge difference!

@Ged Thankyou! I had tried to do the hair prior to your comment and got really frustrated with it and deleted but your comment inspired me to go back to it and make it work and I'm a lot happier with it so thankyou!

Love her ! Really sad that her hat didn't had a little topology dedicated to it, on the face shot, it's a little too visible for my taste.

Would love to know how you went on doing her clothes, it's not really specified anywhere, and they look amazing. ( Especially the leather jacket ... And the boots.

@NovaaH Thankyou! Yeah I know what you mean- I'll pay better attention next time! The jacket was simulated using Marvelous designer and then I sculpted over the top of it in Zbrush to get some better folds and surface detail. The boots I just extracted from the legs/feet mesh and sculpted by hand. Then I textured in substance painter

@NovaaH Its definitely worth it- I only know the bare basics of it enough to get a decent enough base mesh to work with in Zbrush- that's still where I do a lot of the work

@TheRealRyan_ I just put a tilable texture in the 'base colour' option and then overlayed it in the blending option thing- nothing fancy and there's probably better ways of doing it but it worked for what I needed :P
