Maya 2017 Transfer UV problem

I cant figure this issue out..

maya 2017, image on the left is the original mesh, i transfer the UV's to a mirrored mesh, they both have the same polycount, when transferring, the UV shells look the same, but the mirrored object is all jumbled up.

anyone experienced this? Know of any workarounds?
