started texturing some props, made a few tweaks to the ground material, post processing, redid the lights, and played with the god ray some. P.S. ignore the texture on the well, haven't gotten there yet. Would love some feedback as I'm trying to figure where to go next. I'm thinking maybe some vertex painting on the walls to break up the monotony a bit. Also looking at some sort of decal for the trash on the floor to add some extra details. Oh, and cobwebs.

added some more props, played with the lighting, and textured a few more things. The small rubble still needs texturing and I'm not happy with the hole in the wall on the right side. Also trying to figure out something to make the scene pop a bit more.

really nice progress so far.
The new lighting looks good, but you are losing a lot of details. I think you could increase the overall light intensity a bit. Have you turned on Global Illumination?
You could also change the color of your sky, which would help to pop more details!

Looking good man. I like the new lighting too but I would try and be careful to avoid very black patches. Also the walls to the side look a little flat. Maybe they are like that in the ref version? I think A bit of depth/normal intensity would help here.

I really like the overall look of this, but like Amira said above you're losing too many details. I wonder if you could get some background lights, such as a torch dropped by a fleeing goblin (but keep light emitted as white or desaturated so you don't sacrifice the nice central lighting)

Thank guys! I agree about bringing the lighting up. I'm going back and reworking the wall and floor materials today so that should help a lot. And a torch or something could be cool, I'm just starting to feel free enough to deviate from the references, so I'll play with some things, thanks for the feedback!

Ooh, that does have a neat feel. The only thing about the torch is that it adds a feeling of life to the scene, and I want it to feel like no one has been there in years and years.

Great looking piece! Tolkien scenes are always my favorite

The thing I'd push a bit further is the "aging" of the scene, right now it still feels a bit clean.
When I think about Balin's tomb, I remember everything being covered by inches of dust and old spiderwebs. I checked a few pictures and it wasn't as much as I remembered, but still, "dusty" is how I'd qualify this room.

Here's what I'm talking about, look at the chest (is it a chest ?) in the foreground
