    Really interesting looking design you've got going on for this one! As you kindly invited some critique I think it could look great to have a generally darker value composition down the middle of the face and body so it's clearer that there's those two interesting dominant light sources - one from the object in its hand; one above its tail. To help enhance the read you could move that light effect above the tail to either overlap the hair so it's not as ambiguous in regards to whether it's behind or in front of the hair's depth layer. I'm just being picky though - keep up the great work! I think you're on track for a promising illustration career :)
