Car plate help

Hi guys, a friend of mine was attacked while we went out clubbing by some tweaked out twinkos on the roadside , already reported to the police etc , but he will file a formal criminal complain against them and if we could iudentify the country of origin of the vehicle they had it would help speed up things , heres the plate :

S6993-NUG

The driverspot was on the right side, so im either thinking british or some other european country that has right side driving. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks !

if you could describe tho coloring of the plate, that would narrow it down

too many numbers for a british plate, but if you got it wrong :

S993 NUG is a SAAB 9-5 2.0 (97 ON) SE (ECO P) 1985cc 4DR

btw, i got that from my insurers and the quote was huge, which is mental for such an old shit car, so i can only guess it's been involved in shenanigans in the past. Wouldn't surprise, given the circumstances.

Yeah as Dan said, could well be British but you added an extra number. Pre 2001 plates in the UK were 'Letter-1/2/3 numbers, 3 letters.

Also, there aren't many countries that use right hand drive vehicles, and even fewer where a car would have driven to your country (a lot of British tourists drive to the continent).

the license plate was white on the front of the vehicle, just plain white no EU symbols etc , and yellow at the back . Thanks for the help guys !

The UK and Malta are as far as I am aware the only two countries in Europe with right hand drive. And they have a 3 letter 3 number plate system, but as pointed out you've written too many numbers, should be 1 letter 3 numbers, then 3 letters for the old UK system.

what about gibraltar? white front and yellow back plates and the drivers seat on the right certainly point to the UK.
but obviously you can register cars with right hand drive elsewhere, too.
