Hello everybody, some days ago i saw a threat about an mp5 and it made me want to model one, this time working with a high poly mesh (my first time with high poly yeah! :P) I started with a Mp5 body and then decided to continue with an MP5sd, and i think i will work in an mp5k and mp5 navy once i finish with this one
So, here we go:

Use a different material when you show off your work, the shading and lighting on this makes it hard to give you any real crits.

hey Maxi,

This tutorial shows a good material / rendering set up to display high poly work inside of max.

on a side note when i'm working with a high poly model i'll typically assign a standard grey material but turn up the specular. This allows you to read the model better.

Keep on cranking on this thing man.

Thanks NoltaN! I was using a similar setting, but with some differences, i have configurated it so it is the same material as in the tutorial. Heres a small progress i made, i am getting a weird effect (maybe caused by lights) at the bottom of the barrel and the supressor, i will try to fix it

Your cylinders are too low poly for being hi poly :P Otherwise, it looks decent so far, just needs a lot more detail and to be finished.

Yup, they have 18 faces each one, i think i will high poly them now

I think i've had some weird artifacting when using those render settings, granted i'm not sure if thats your issue. If I'm remembering correctly you can turn up the shadow samples on the skylight. It will increase your render times significantly but the result will be better. Don't raise the value to much just by a few points.

Also I'd go through creating that material again something with the lighting or the material doesn't right. Dont waste to much time on that though. Keep on cranking on that model

Had recreated the material fom 0, as well as the lights, and still getting the same error, but it looks cool anyways as its not the final render
Heres the supressor with a lower part of the barrelt "highpolysied"

Sweet lookin' gun you got there, great start!
Although (not being a gun-nut) it seems to me the handle is a bit small/thin and the cockingpin is bit short/thin aswell.

Thanks! and your right, i just realized it, thanks for finding it out! i have the cooking handle in the wrong side as well :P

Right now your grip is being dominated by the trigger guard, and it should be the other way around. Yes your charging/cocking handle is way too small, and on the wrong side like you said

I'd also recommend checking out Lonewolf's MP5 thread for peeking into his polyflow, they're different models of mp5 for sure, but for the most part its the same gun body.

Like above poster said problems with grip and trigger guard. Also, cocking handle is way too small.

It's not low poly, its the render or screencap and material/lighting setup he's using.
