Split geometry in ZBrush - is there a fix for this?

Hello fellas,

I've run into a problem here.. It happened when I Groups Split'ed a model that was polygrouped (lower lip/jaw area). I then merged the subtools down but now when I subdivide, smooth over, or move topological, the geometry separates even though the body is just a single polygroup. ZBrush still thinks they are separate subtools.

Is there any way to fix this issue?
