Maya motion paths, Maintain offset

Is there any way in maya 2011 to attach an objects (in this case a locator) to a motion path, but have the object's start location stay in place instead of being relocated to the start of the curve?

essentially i have a series of locators that follow each other like a train, so i need to maintain the distance between each segment while moving along a set path

ideally i really want to just constrain the locators directly to the curve (while still being able to animate them) in the same way that a geometry constraint would work so if there's a way to do that, even better
