Making the Move to Dallas

Hi everyone, I was uncertain or not as to where to start this thread, but as the subject states , I'm moving to the Dallas area next week. I'm currently in my last couple of semesters studying 3D modeling with hopes of working in games.

I have a portfolio but am still working on a few pieces to get them up to par by the time I graduate in May of next year. However, I would love to hear constructive feedback from any of the professionals here as to where I can improve on my work. Also, I'd really be interested in obtaining an internship in the Dallas area so if anyone has any leads or can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

If you want to be a character artist I would suggest finishing your characters and get them down to game-res right now, all you have are sculpts. Its a good start you just need to finish them

First advice, don't shotgun the industry, snipe it. Do a highly concentrated portfolio. What your current portfolio tells me is 1) you're not sure what you want to do 2) you're not passionate about one single thing. I would much rather hire someone who's truly passionate about character modeling than someone who had all kinds of subjects in their portfolio.

@Sukotto-You are right, they are all just sculpts right now. I am working on the low res geo's right now. I have a thread in Pimping and previews on the progress so far. I will post the low res there shortly.

@Sukotto-I have family in Dallas and there is a pretty decent game scene there. Much more than where I am currently. I figured it would be a great place to start especially since my family is there.

@Julmust-I assume you are referring to the illustrations and everything else other than modeling in my portfolio? Like the quote by the way
