Sculpting Lingo: Mass vs Volume

Mass vs Volume

I know how the terms are used in physics but in the art world they almost seam like they are synonyms.

Anyone here with some traditional sculpting training that has an intuition for what exactly separates the two?

I know volume is space, and mass is measurable (in physics)....

Anyways, I know its not a very critical thing to know but the two terms are used so much in a lot of the forums and tutorials I encounter that I finally succumb to the urge to inquire.
