I have Maya 2011 and my partner in a project has Max and he can only get .3ds or .obj files but the only files I can export are .mb or .ma. Do I need a converter or add on to do this?
obj works for meshes but if you have other things to port back and forth like bones, animations, lights, cameras ect... then FBX is Autodesk's way of shuttling files around between their different apps.
