The TTLG forums are buzzing about it. Could mean updated fan-made game content for newer systems, or could mean a lawsuit from Eidos.

Unfortunately, it looks like some of the code redirects to files on networked drives that modders obviously have no access to,

Anyhow I wish more developers would do what Id at least used to do and release the code to the public after the older engine was defunct.

Saw this on RPS, great news.

Hopefully that the community manages to replace what's missing and get things compiling

The word on TTLG is that it's all (or nearly all) there. Certainly enough to build.. o.O

It's nice news, but sobering to remember how slow and convoluted the FreeSpace open source project has been over the years.

Knowing the community for these games, I can only hope for something wonderful.

Earthbound series still has the craziest fanbase i've ever seen. Currently they are working on an unofficial Mother 4, and it looks legit. Also, they're the reason Mother 3 was even made.
