Thanks for being such a great community, especially in the regards to how the community handles giving criticism. I rarely see people putting each other down or passing on destructive criticism here. People follow by example, and those responsible for the civility need to be commended. Maybe it goes without saying around here, but I at least, as a small fry, don't take the attitude of this community for granted. You guys are great!

Polycount - that is, the people who make up the community - pride themselves on seeing other people develop as videogame artists. It's mostly unspoken, but I believe it to be true whether we'd admit it publicly or not.
Oh, and welcome to Polycount.

It's true, and it really is the best feeling to see someone listen, improve and land that big job. However, the worst is the people that don't listen for shit, and it takes them years or never to get a job. You know who you are. Unforunately employers do too.
lol
its cool to have a place where pros and newcommers from around the globe can unleash the passion that brought us together here in the 1st place. booyakasha! keep on rockin PC and welcome to this delicious mixing pot Emeriastone
Welcome to PC, emeriastone.
You know he's being sarcastic right? He hates us all!
J/k I totally agree with you Emeriastone, you have to have a thick skin at times, but its tough love at its best around here. Personally I can't think of a better environment for 3d artists to grow. Just wish I had known this before I dropped 80,000 on school, lol. Oh well, live and learn.
Saying future employers are watching and the developing artist should beware implies potential hiring companies are constantly jumping to conclusions about everyone, applying unrealistic judgment on a person for not looking for a job.
Maybe this person simply does not wish to work professionally, yet. Should I be blacklisted forever, by an entire industry, simply because I do not run up, eagerly begging for employment, from the start?
I just want to improve on my own. I don't want my first job in a successful studio to be some chalice of striving, mediocre accomplishment; I want the company to value myself, as an asset, and hire not out of pity, but of an honest desire to employ me.
