I cant speak for the admins, but historically polycount has been less focused on "contests" and more on "challenges." Things that promote community and growth as opposed to slaughter and victory over our own
Not to rain on your parade, but everyone has been screaming for contests/challenges lately. Yet, we just had a small Sculpting Challenge... There were only five completed entries. So to me that doesn't make much sense.
Don't get me wrong, I'd personally love for there to be a 2D challenge of sorts and I'd even give it a crack myself.
Yeah, we need more COOL FANTASY CHARACTER or LOWPOLY STYLIZED FEMALE CHARACTER style competitions. Cgchat and gameartisans and polycount all always had vastly more success with a broad, but fairly clear theme. Silly dominance war style shit is stupid and takes away from the art side.
yeah a challenge not a slaughter all competition. hey emil i agree with conte. why dont we do like a polycount elite forces or something. it kinda sounds stupid though.
it should have a long deadline. since we just had a sculpting challenge why not change it to 2d some people like me who dont know a lot about 3d cant enter those challenges
Hahaha, she is actually a he.
Honestly, marlfox8... We are really focused on launching the new Polycount site and with that an awesome contest. So if you guys just bare with us for a little longer and we'll be sure to offer regular challanges once everything has gone live.
The 2D challenge/contest is definitely a great idea and we will look into organising one in the near future.
To me, this just feels out of place. What would the point of a polycount-hosted 2d character contest be, when there are forums like conceptart.org with a very active community?
Would it be so you're 'a big fish in a small pond', rather than competing with people who are great at concept art?

Start or revive the thread, dude
Actually, Theme is what everyone have been working on and posting it in Pimp and previews. The deadline was very short...7th of April? O.O
I hope this one have extended deadline and selection of theme(s).
