I did a search to make sure this hasn't been made already, and didn't see any soo...

I saw it! The FX were great and worth the watch in the movies. I enjoyed the movie overall. The previews of Avatar on the big screen of a regular movie theater look great too when compared to watching them on the PC monitor I mean. I'm looking forward to that.

We're off to see it on Monday, but I'm really looking forward to it. Definitely going to check out Avatar, too.

I thought it kinda sucked balls; typical blockbuster effusion of good thoughts and forced humanity morale. was so long, like 2h30 or something, I mean, I like long movies as long as there's something actually happening. FX were good tho.

    oh yeah also super clich

Great effects, average story, rubbish ending and laughable script. Billions are killed but lets try and make it uplifting!

I saw it a couple of weeks ago and thought it was ridiculously bad. I'm getting so sick of seeing Roland Emmerich being given gajillions of dollars to make the same tired, cliche-ridden 'event' movie over and over again. What's most depressing is that apparently Emmerich takes 25% of the box office gross, so he'll personally make about $100 million from this brain-dead armageddon-fest. The whole formula for blockbusters is so screwed these days. I know that nearly all of these big movies make money, but they are all about an hour too long and lacking any genuine sense of excitement, narrative or character development.

Somebody needs to sit Mr Emmerich, Mr Bay, Mr Verbinski and all those other hacks in front of the original summer blockbusters and point out to them that you need more than 150 minutes of explosions, ill-judged 'humour' and trite sentimentality to make a movie that will endure. Spielberg, Lucas etc. were genuine fans of cinema and they grew out of a really interesting era in American movies. The current 'big' directors are trumped-up music video directors with nothing interesting to say. It's worth noting that the only really decent blockbusters of the past ten years were directed by individuals from outside the Hollywood system (Christopher Nolan, Sam Raimi, Peter Jackson, Guillermo Del Toro). But yeah, let's all keep watching Pirates 4/Transformers 3/Terminator 9 etc.

I love how, in the film, the people who build the arc decided to hired someone to record "Incommin crash", : "10sec until countown end" voice sound. . they expected that exact situation I guess! ... D e l e t e!

The plot was full of holes and some of the acting was "meh" but it was worth $7.50 for the special effects alone. Some of those water simulations were just insane.

all it needed was a dude surfing atop a giant tsunami and the movie would have been completed. It was truly aweful even as far as blockbuster narratives go. Still though, the CG was impressive.

It's too bad it wasn't just 1 hour long and presented a series of shot stories from the perspective of different characters around the world. Then we would have had all of the special effects, saved some time, and had some simple context to go along with it all.

It needed about hour and a half less story and an hour more disaster porn. The writing was crap, the acting was average, the emotional bits were just painful and it was a waste of time and money.

    Really pretty FX work, though.

    You know, it sucked.

    Really.

The special effects were good, but I mean really, so cliche. My friends and I had a conversation about that right after the movie. Not worth the $10.50 I paid, at all. It was 3 hours too long.

And how lovely and neat the ships were, "hey guys, end of the world soon, let's make these passenger rooms all stylish, screw building the ship to be functional so we can focus on saving more lives, we have rooms to decorate."

Well it was made for rich people that paid a billion Euros so they could ride them, what did you expect. :D I was surprised the movie was three hours because to me it didn't feel that way, like in say Transformers 2. With this I was just waiting what else they would come up with. The little girl and the guy waiting for the end to come made the film for me. They made me smile every time.
Yes I found the movie to be fairly funny too, especially when you consider how those Chinese workers must of been treated to make those huge ships in just three years. What!!! I guess they didn't get 15 min breaks. :D The church getting crushed was a nice touch. I think this is the first movie they show that. In all the other ones they suggest the destruction of the Vatican City which just seemed odd to me

Ebagg NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... LOL they might of stole the ending but it wasn't like the day after tomorrow or Deep Impact. Hmm I think the biggest plot hole of this movie was, what do rich people know about working the land? I mean without their employees doing all the work for them what are they going to do?
