Help with UE3 - Play testing issues!

Hey guys, after downloading the unreal patch 4, every time I save out a map as a DM or CTF and then try to play test, it just drops me into the level with my weapon, hud, etc. I can't move around or close the window by hitting escape. Please let me know if there's a work-around for this or anything else I can do, thanks in advance!

and uninstalling/reinstalling doesnt help at all
anyone know how to fix this? or what the problem is?
