Apparently not. Im pissing my pants daily now almost. How many have gotten the can now? 2000+ ? I know sony kicked 8k guys but i don´t know how many of those were game dev related.

"I had no idea the economy was this bad until it affected me personall" O R L Y? I guess he missed the 4000pt + drop it's sustained in the past few months, or the massive layoffs around the country. What a tool.
But it's freedom of speech and he sure as hell shouldn't be sued.
I wonder in situations where the company just stops paying it's employees if they can begin to collect unemployment, or if they need to be officially "let go" in order to qualify for that. That's got to be a tough situation for the guys working there.
you have to be officially "let go" to get unemployment. Unfortunately I know that from personal experience. Those folks who haven't been paid for two months have my sympathies, I went through that before and it sucks sucks sucks.

to add to this, I would probably work for free if my options were to work at home on my portfolio for free, or work at work on my portfolio for free. I would totally use the assets I create for free in my portfolio, and they would have to agree to it or I leave.
many might also be working just to have a guaranteed job if and when money comes back in.
Yea its kind of like when the power goes out during a storm, you hang around a bit to see if it will kick back on, after awhile you get tired of waiting and move on.

They mostly closed down a lot of plants that were not making what the call "core devices" They consider the PS3 a core device so I doubt too many devs will be out on the street. That's not to say it isn't coming, or that projects won't be S-Canned in the next few weeks/months... they just weren't included in that particular round of layoffs.
