Zbrush memory issue, memory could not be allocated

We've just started using Zbrush at my job and we're working on a project now where I'm getting to take a buffalo model into zbrush to detail it up and export a normal map out of it.

The problem I'm having is when i switch back to my lowest subdivision level to use zmapper, I'm getting a message that says "PlugIn Note: Memory could not be allocated - SubDiv faces" when i click the "create normal map" button. The buffalo only has around 2 and a half million polys at it's highest level, and i'm running a dual core machine with 3 gigs of ram with nothing else running in the background. I know about the mem tab in the preferences, but I don't think I've changed anything there since I've installed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
