I suppose technically its not my first life drawing. I did a couple guestures at the Austin ConceptArt.org event.

I didn't want to call this a class either, since there is no instructor. It's an "open studio" where I pay 5$ and sit with other artists painting/drawing a model for 3 hours.

Anyway, please crit away. I know some of you art-school types may chuckle, but we all start somewhere eh? My traditional skills have been neglected for years...

Thats pretty damn good for a first time. I assume you've done other sorts of drawings from life or at least drawings from photos before? It took me a while to have even half way decent proportions on my gestures...

    Anyways, good shit

yeah, look real good for a firt time lifedrawing!

The only thing I could crit would be to loosen up and get more rhythm and motion in drawing.

Well damn. My first life drawings are barely recognisable as (partially complete) human figures...

aww, i feel like a proud parent, scoob. i don't think these are bad at all for being some of your first life drawings, as people have said. there's a good consistency between drawings (you can tell its the same subject), and forms seem pretty well developed. keep at it! that sounds like a great price to pay to be able to come in and sketch (compared to what i paid per class in college... grumble grumble). i need to get back to lifedrawing meself!

    Thanks guys!

aesir: I've been working as an artist for a few years doing graphic design, and I've always done characters & such, but never any sort of dedicated formalized "studies" like this.
Lots of 3d models & skins & wacom sketches though.

Eli: These were the longer studies, like 10-30 minutes. The guestures I did weren't worth scanning & posting really.

Gauss: You should, ya know, loan me your tablet PC for next week! :P I think I may bring my wacom & laptop, see how that works out.
