Best way to light this scene?

Hey guys, I'm working on a top-down game set in space. I'm not sure how to handle the lighting for my level (here). I have a flat playspace area, distant objects below and huge background objects.

So far, I have a directional light for the sun light, set as movable and a skylight. From what I've read, this light should be stationary. In this case, when I'm baking the lighting I have some artifacts over the objects. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Even with it moveable, I get a lot of shadow striping. Any way to increase resolution?

I have things at a blockout level now, the plan is to detail these large meshes a bit, then add greeble sets for them - small objects with baked normal maps and textures, and lastly props to populate the level. For the large objects and greeble sets I'll create the 2nd UV sets for the light baking. I'll also add numerous small static lights throughout the level.

Any tips on the best approach for lighting these large objects?
