The Role

Alston Elliot are a world class leading provider of real-time graphics solutions for major sports events and broadcasters around the world. Some of our clients include Sky Sports, Fox Sports, ESPN, Rugby World Cup, BBC Sport and Star Sports to name a few.

We are looking for a highly talented designer / artist to head up a new division within the company that focuses on conceptualising and building highly realistic 3D virtual studio environments within Unreal Engine for use in live television broadcasts. You will be responsible for the entire process from concept to completion.

Your creations will host real life presenters - composited into the virtual set in real-time within a green screen environment - hence the lean towards hyper-realism. We are using Unreal Engine in a similar way to how architectural visualisation specialists do; focusing the full power the renderer on small, specific set pieces rather than larger interactive environments.

You will have extensive technical knowledge and experience working with Unreal Engine and how best to configure the renderer, lighting and materials to produce photo realistic results.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on cutting edge live broadcast projects viewed by millions of people all over the world.

Key Responsibilities:

> Working to client briefs to produce initial virtual set designs and concepts (sketches, 3D mock-up renders etc.).

> Working closely with the creative director and clients to present your work and discuss / manage critique and feedback.

> Creating all 3D content (3ds Max / Maya).

> Creating, sourcing and modifying all 2D content (textures, HDR maps, normal maps etc.).

> Using Unreal Engine to compose and produce the final real-time project.

> Staying up to date with current best practices and techniques within Unreal Engine as well as keeping on top of new features and how we might adopt them.

> Experimenting with different lighting techniques, material blueprints / shaders, renderer settings etc. to constantly push the boundaries of the quality of real-time rendering we can achieve within Unreal Engine.
