Cut tool seems to be inherently snapped to the center point(grid) for no apparent reason... This affects only the left viewport whereas cutting using the other viewports work just fine. I checked the settings and snapping is definitely turned off.

Things i have tried:
- Restarted 3ds max
- Convert to editable mesh then to editable poly
- Enable 2 sided in the material editor
- change to ortho view then to back then back to left

Was working fine before, any ideas on solving the issue?..

Sort of sounds like a transform issue belong to the mesh.
    I can't remember 2016 having this issue.
    Have you tried Reset XForm?
Or if that doesn't work, detach the mesh, create a box, collapse to poly and then attaching your previous mesh to the box (and then delete the box element). This removes all data from the previous mesh, it sometimes gets messed up and has always worked me.

Doesn't seem to work as well. Tried dramatically rescaling the object as well then cut using the side viewport. still doesn't work.

Does it do the same if you zoom right in and pan?

Alright, I just decided to continue modelling what i was working on and somehow it worked as per normal after I when back to that specific piece of geometry to cut it. Maybe I'll try replicate the problem...
