maya edge constraint like 3ds max

Hi, i want to ask is there a way to make the maya edge constraint to behave like 3ds max? like what the guy did in about 13:10.

Maya edge constraint sliding will change the shape. 
the orange edge is what maya give me, but i want the result to be line red line.

    Try the insert edge loop tool with the equal distance option enabled. Then when you click closer to the target edge it'll follow that form, it's a feature I'd really like to see in Multi-Cut tool as well.

    You could also use Transform Constraint -> Edge Slide  and then push it into the target edge, then pull it back and it will follow the form.

    Try mesh tools > insert edgeloop. Hit the option box right next to it and set the and set the 'Maintain distance' to Equal distance from edge. 

    With the 'slide edge' tool, simply set the mode to Absolute.

    I often use insert edge loop tool but didn't realize they have this maintain distance thing. Thanks alot guys~ :)
