Hi, we're the Fantasy Strike team at Sirlin Games. Fantasy Strike is a fighting game by an ex-Street Fighter dev that's a lot easier to get into and learn than other games in the genre, so that we can bring the joys of fighting games to a wider audience.

LOCATION

Our team works remotely from all over the world. Working from home and setting your own hours offers a ton of flexibility, but it also requires that our team members to be disciplined self-starters.

TERMS

This is a full-time position.
We're an indie company, so set your salary expectations (and your passion!) accordingly.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We’re looking for a Maya technical artist to set up character rigs, do skinning on characters and alternate costumes, and to create/improve tools for our production workflow. The most immediate work is setting up facial rigs on our existing characters, and setting up skinning for a lot of alternate costumes. Later on, we’ll need new body and face rigs for both human and non-human characters. You’ll work with our character modeling outsource as well as internal animators to ensure that there are no technical problems.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong skill in skinning and rigging in Maya.
  • Understanding of human body and facial anatomy.
  • High level skill in skinning / painting weights.
  • Able to recognize proper mesh topology as well as repair and/or give feedback to the 3D modelers, especially on facial meshes.
  • At least some modeling ability, at least enough to adjust a model’s proportions and limbs sizes.
  • We require character meshes exported to FBX, and the FBX must have meshes combined (e.g. body/clothes/hair all as one mesh), as per our detailed instructions.
  • Expert in Maya.
  • Good written communication skills, fluent in English (you'll have to communicate with our outsourced character modelers).
PREFERRED
  • Scripting experience with MEL, Python, C#, C++ or others.
  • Experience with standard industry tools like Photoshop, Motion Builder (though we don’t currently use it).
Send your replies to jobs@sirlingames.com, not through PM on this site, in order to make sure we really get them. When replying please include a resume and cover letter. In the cover letter, tell us why you want to want to work at Sirlin Games / Fantasy Strike, and which game(s) you're playing now.
