Automatic LOD vs Manual LOD ??

Hello lovely Poltcounter's,

I am newly learning about LOD (Level of Details)... I learnt that we create LOD both Manually and Automatically...

Which is better ?? Manual or Automatic ??
If possible any Professional, what method have u used for your Game ? and why is it ?? 

Also any tips on improving the LOD for meshes (Any links if possible, lol)

    Manual is better provided you plan and build them properly. Modern autolodders are very good but tend to fall down when you want to make serious savings (Eg going from 3k tris to 60/80 tris as we did on my last two releases)

    What you do on a given asset will come down to how much time you have available..
