Hardsuit Labs, an independent game studio in Seattle, WA, is hiring for a Lighting Artist!

Lighting Artist

Description

We are looking for a talented Lighting Artist to join our team in Seattle, WA.  This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high visibility, yet-to-be-announced project.

You

We are looking for a lighting artist with a background in 3D modeling and environment art. You should have an excellent understanding of color theory and lighting concepts and a strong sense of scene composition.  A jack of many artistic trades, you can work on color correction and post effects on Monday and easily switch gears to help out our environment team with asset creation on Tuesday, if need be. You understand the value of a teamwork, consider yourself self-motivated and feel comfortable collaborating with co-workers across various teams. If you enjoy walking the line between being a Lighting artist and a 3D generalist, we would love to talk to you.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience
  • Experience with photorealistic lighting
  • Mastery of lighting fundamentals how lighting effects mood and gameplay in realistic environment layout.
  • Proficiency in level art generation such as vertex baking, light maps, light probes, etc.
  • Proficiency in asset creation software for authoring and organizing game content (Maya, ZBrush, and Photoshop preferred)
  • UE4 experience
  • Strong technical skills for debugging complex lighting problems
  • Previous or next-gen video game platform experience is desirable
  • Good communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills

Day-to-Day

  • Work with the Art Director to implement post process effects such as bloom, ambient occlusion, depth of field, and color correction.
  • Light levels and characters according to defined quality standards, artistic styles, technical parameters and production goals.
  • Model, texture, and light game ready quality 3D environments for use in-engine using provided concept art or inspirational reference material.
  • Solicit feedback from designers and art directors to accommodate gameplay and art features into the environment.
