As the title says,
I am curious if 3D sculpting is rather considered as an addition to modelling skills in the game/movie industries.

I'm working mostly on 2D character designs turning them into 3D sculptures and that would be my dream job to work this way  :)

Modelling is way too harder to learn (retopology, UV's) so my primary goal is just to bring 2D characters into life when making them in 3D for still images.

What are your thoughts? Do you think that a sculptor should know such skills as modelling?

I'm not a pro at all but I have a feeling that being strictly a sculptor is a bit limiting. At the same time if you just want to produce still images you don't really need to learn retopo, uv'ing, rigging, etc. In what industry would you like to work?

Yes. regardless if your even just sculpting for 3D printing, your going to have to know 3D applications and their tools. Especially when it comes to actually having to deal with clients, real-world spefications and CAD constructions.

Sculpting sweet characters is only part of the job. ;)
