[Maya] Select only Components from active Object ?

Hey guys,
i'm switiching from XSI to Maya - and one thing makes me sick:
If i select one or two Objects the "Vertex, Edge, Face" selection should be only work on this. But evertime i accidentally select another "non-active" object - maya switch to it. I tried many combinations of the selections settings but without sucess.
4 years ago i also used maya 2014 for job but if i could remember right - this wasn't a problem.
