Hey Polycounters, this is flow754 from the Saints Row modding community and I'm here to spread some exciting news. After implementing Steam Workshop support to its latest title, developer Deep Silver Volition is hosting a contest for the best new Saints Row IV PC mods. In it for YOU is not only a fun challenge but also sweet prizes, such as an Intel i7 6700K CPU, a Corsair K70 RGB Lux Keyboard and a Corsair Void USB-Carbon Headset.

There are three categories you can compete in:

Best new customization item mod

Saints Row is all about player freedom and a big part of that is character customization. You can tweak pretty much everything about your player character, from their body type to the size of their cheek bones. Of course there are also tons of clothing items you can combine to create your perfect look. In order to win in this category, you will have to work some 3D magic to create the most fashionable/ crazy/ epic item(s) of all.
There is a complete walkthrough of how to make new clothing items with custom 3d models, so If you don't have experience modding Saints Row IV, this category will be the easiest to compete in. Here are two links to get you up and running:

Best new weapon mod

What else is Saints Row about you ask? Weapons. Hilarious Weapons. No, I'm not talking about the dildo bat, that's just a cliché. The goal in this category is to make the most awesome weapon you can possibly think of. Although well documented, our current weapon modding tools were made long before Steam Workshop for Saints Row IV became a thing and the mod format changed, so it requires a somewhat advanced modder to make a functional custom weapon mod for Workshop.

Best new miscellaneous mod

The last category is meant for everything else you can come up with - be it a simple gameplay value tweak, a custom script or even a texture pack. Think outside the box!

How To Submit

To enter the contest, upload your new Saints Row IV PC mod to Steam Workshop, and send an email to vsocial@dsvolition.com with a link to the mod, and with the following Subject: Steam Workshop Contest Entry. The deadline to submit your mods is March 20 and there is no entry fee to this contest. However, you will have to own Saints Row IV to participate. You can get the game for 15 bucks on Steam if you don't have it already. For the full set of Contest Rules see:

HINT: We are a very small but passionate and kind modding community. Historically the bulk of Saints Row mods have been gameplay tweaks and most of us are rather on the technical side of things. There are in fact very few cosmetic mods and 3D artists to create them among us, so every one of you who accepts the challenge to participate in this contest actually has a good chance of winning.
