Hair dither / ghost hair

Hey guys,
I'm working on some hair at the moment but having problems with Marmoset. I've tried to follow an example but at some point my hair always disappears when I turn on the same combination of settings. It always works fine until I turn on dither. In the attached example I leave dither on but try to add occlusion = the result is pale grey tinted hair. I've also tried the same thing using tga's and making the material in a new scene.
Any ideas?
