Marvelous Designer - Fabric Looks more like Crumpled Paper

I'm teaching myself Marvelous Designer.

I probably just need to play around more or watch more videos, but what I'm currently experiencing is the fabric not behaving as expected. I have a preset of Denim for these pants and I've tried to up the density as well as the thickness to give it a chunkier feel, but it's still giving me results like this:

The edges of all the open areas look very sharp and "paper-like" The base is very crumpled despite me cranking up the density on the object. And the belt loops look pretty horrible in my opinion.

I didn't know what settings to use when I imported so I chose the default (mm). I'm thinking it may have something to do with the scale, but I'm not sure. I thought I'd ask the experts instead of digging around online looking for answers. I'm running it on a trial, so I'd love to have a better handle on this program before it expires.

Also, when I export, the seams are not part of the mesh? Does anyone know what is causing that?

Thanks everyone!  I apologize if these are noob questions! Go easy on me :)
