How to extrude from flat 2D orthographic plan to 3D

Hi there,
I hope that somebody can help me with this. I have a flat orthographic 2D plan (coming from a DWG / DXF file). Here is a part of it.

I would like to convert it to a 3D object. For this, I have in mind to extrude the green part but this gives bad results to just extrude the green shape, which is logical.
How could I properly extrude this green shape ?

You'll need to connect vertices within the shape so each face has a clear center. The "H" part might be fine, but the cutout box on the left tends to confuse operations as to what's in and what's out.

Thank you for your answer @throttlekitty but this green shape is 2D flat unfortunately and I don't know how to transform it in 3D.
If I can convert it in 3D I would be able to extrude it the good way.

Alright, let's back up a bit. What software are you using to do this? When you imported the DWG, the result is probably curve objects which give you plenty to work with in 3d, but the specifics will matter on your 3d app.

Thanks for your help, I am using 3dsmax and the DWG is just some splines which represent a flattened ortho plan. Here is another screenshot.

I can extrude it, no problem about that but the shape won't be right as the flat 2D view is in ortho perspective. In the previous screenshot the angle is 90° in ortho so in 3D I should also have a 90° angle but this is not the case.

I don't know if Autocad can generate 3D shapes out of a flat 2D ortho plan.

OHH ok! I was doing something of the opposite last night in Maya. Google tells me Max does have a Skew modifier, which you'll want to use on the X plane to try and knock it into shape. I think you'd need to first rotate the set so one set of walls lays horizontal before doing the skew to get that to 90 degrees.
