Portfolio Creation - Peice 01 Forest Alter

After a couple of years away from 3D asset creation, I feel the time is right to reinvent my portfolio. I wanted to start off with a piece by an artist named; Becca Hallstedt, who has kindly given me permission to develop this piece from one of her own concepts.

The Concept:


The Plan:
I'll be aiming for a handpainted fantasy look for this piece starting out with a sculpt to bake from. I have already created by sculpt base within Maya and got it sent up and ready for sculpting tomorrow.



For the rocks I will be using geospheres within zbrush. I will also be creating the tree stumps within zbrush and creating their low poly mesh using Topogun. As for the vines at this point i'm unsure of the best way to go with these. I may simply exclude them from the sculpt or try to use the tube sculpting function within zbrush.

Any tips on creating the vines would be appreciated.
