Maya tips and tricks thread

I don't think we have one of these threads. Sometimes you find something stupidly cool and you gotta share, right?

I just discovered an option; no idea how long it's been there or how long i've ignored it. Maybe you have too?

Under manipulators, "Reposition using middle mouse button" auto-snaps the gizmo to wherever you click with mmb. So holding C for edge constraint slides without moving your selection. Holding V snaps to the vert without needing to enter pivot edit mode. This also works well with rotate/scale; also holding Shift and dragging in a direction for example.

It's a welcome change that avoids some keyboard dancing if you do this sort of thing often, such as making this "building" shorter, but keeping the same angle. In one click! But it does come with the downside that you can't snap a vertex to another using mmb at the target. You can use either left or middle to drag from within the manipulator center.
