Hello Polycount. I'm a long time lurker and I don't post much. But today I'm crawling out of my cave to show you what I've been working on for the past 2 months.



In short, Intergalactic Road Warriors is a side-scrolling combat racer, designed for quick play sessions with an emphasis on chaos and speed. So far we've invested a little over 720 work hours in bringing this game to Steam greenlight, and then to Early Access.



My role in this project has primarily been as game artist with a bit of technical artist thrown into the mix in terms of developing some custom shaders here and there. In this thread I'd like to showcase some of the art that I made for the game. And maybe receive some feedback, because the game is still in Early Access! So development is still ongoing. :)

So first an introduction to the aesthetic:


Intergalactic Road Warriors is a pixel-art styled game set in all corners of the known universe. Races take place on all kinds of crazy worlds. 


These are just static mockups, which look rather plain. We're using the Unity 2d tools beta to spice things up, the smart sprites specifically.

I mentioned shaders earlier, this is a small example of a shader I built (masked distortion and flame animations on a sprite):



Concluding, here's a shameless plug for the game. IRW is in early access right now. We decided to hit steam asap so it's still under heavy development. As we continue to work on the game I'll be sure to update this thread with some more visual goodies. :)
