3DS Max Editable Poly Rollout Memory (Soft Selection/Edit Geometry)

I'm in 3DS Max 2013, and when in Editable Poly mode, it seems to have a terrible memory for which rollouts should be open.  When I switch from one subobject mode to another, it seems to constantly close the "Edit Geometry" rollout (which I use constantly) and open the "Soft Selection" rollout, (which I use very infrequently).

It's been an issue for ages, but is bugging me a lot today for whatever reason, so I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this, or knows of a way to fix it?  Is there a way to set the default state (open/closed) of a given rollout?

    I used to run into this issue frequently, although since upgrading to 2016 I haven't experienced it. I never found a real solution, although an easy quick fix is to right click on the pane and select Reset Rollout.
